Mission Statement:
 
This is Bonnie having her neck adjusted. She is my 9 year old Sheltie with arthritis.
She also receives physical therapy for her front right leg.
 
The mission of Little Critters Chiropractic Services is to treat your best friend as if she were mine, like Bonnie.
My goal is to do anything and everything I know, by virtue of my education and experience, to obtain and then maintain the best quality of life possible for the animals that are so dear to us.
 
If your little critter is having difficulty walking, is limping, or has difficulty standing from a sitting or lying position, has stopped jumping on the furniture, or squatting to do their personal business maybe chiropractic treatment can help.

Dr. Sommer started treating people in 1980, and rapidly built a very successful practice with three office locations. In 1991, he read an article in a chiropractic journal about Doctors of Chiropractic treating animals. An avid animal lover, he enrolled in the program offered by the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association that would train and certify him in this unique specialty. Completing all of the requirements, he started treating animals in 1993. Realizing that there were enough chiropractors to treat people and so few to help animals, he closed his human practice in 1999 to treat animals exclusively.
Dr. Sommer is a former member of the Ethics Committee of the New Jersey Chiropractic Society, and advised the boards of both professions in the drafting of the protocols in 1994 that allow for the chiropractic treatment of animals in New Jersey. The "Jersey Protocols" as they were known, was the model used nationwide to help provide for animal chiropractic throughout the United States.  
"My problem is that I have never met an animal I did not love. While most of my patients are dogs and cats, I have treated wolves, horses, rabbits, ferrets, an inguana with a crooked tail and a veterinarians pet guinea pig. I am truly blessed to have the kind of job that I love so much that it does not feel like work. In fact, one of the greatest perks of my work is that I get to meet some of the nicest people in the world. People that love their animals enough to take them to a chiropractor. People like you."
